Dina Titus for Governor

Nevada is on the way to have its first female Governor ever. However, Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus first has to win the Democratic primary on August 15th against Henderson mayor Jim Gibson. Most of the Nevada blogosphere doesn't care much for Gibson. And I tend to agree. In my humble opinion Dina Titus is by far the more progressive candidate. That's why I support her in the primary. That said a Democratic Governor is always better for Nevada than a Republican one, especially if that Republican is Congressman Jim Gibbons.

In her latest newsletter Dina points out that while she raised less money than Gibson in the first quarter of this year she also points out that most contributors to her campaign gave small sums of money suggesting that while corporations are behind Gibson, the people are behind Dina Titus:
As you will recall, during the first reporting period we raised $1.2 million. Sixty-two percent or our donors gave $100 or less, and we received contributions from over thirty communities in 13 of Nevada's 17 counties.

This was truly a grass roots effort.

By contrast, my opponent reported having raised $1.8 million, almost all of which came from big developers doing business in Henderson. One developer alone gave $150,000, skirting the campaign law by "bundling" contributions from his different affiliated companies. And a substantial amount came from LLC's, the corporations whose ownership is impossible to establish.
