Independence Day News Roundup
It's a slow newsday. But I still managed to find a few gems.
- The Tahoe Daily Tribune reported that a new fine of $325,000 is being proposed for the Kings Beach sewage spill. (Link)
- The Tribune also has the story of a military police officer who is home from Iraq for the holiday. (Link)
- Campaigning begins. In Douglas County at least. The Douglas County Democratic Central Committee's headquarters will open tomorrow. Details in the Tribune. (Link)
- Very strange things happen in politics from time to time. Republican Congressman and Goverwannabe Jim Gibbons touts Nevada's new sex-offender law and describes it as a model for national legislation. Here's where it gets strange: It was co-sponsored by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dina Titus and she campaigns heavily on it. Hmm. The Nevada Appeal. (Link)
- Dina Titus also received the endorsement of Nevada's African American leaders. The Las Vegas Review-Journal. (Link)
- It's all about the oil, baby. The Sacramento Bee has another the Arnold v. Angelides story. This time it's on energy. Yeehah! (Link)
